We all understand that remaining fit and healthy in today’s world where junk food and a sedentary lifestyle are severe temptations is not always easy. It takes determination, energy, and motivation to stay on track, lose weight, and gain strength. Of course, there are plenty of diets out there but so many of them are filled with empty promises that it’s not always easy to distinguish the good from the bad.

The Results of a Sedentary Lifestyle

The brutal fact is that in this country, there are now more people than ever before suffering from an epidemic of obesity. Even those who try to maintain a good diet still find it difficult to exercise as regularly as they need to. The fact is that as a species, we were not meant to sit around all day and eat junk food and empty calories. Our bodies were evolved to be active and to survive on a much leaner and less abundant diet.

The results of a sedentary life are clear for all to see and typically include:

    • Back aches and pains due to poor posture, lack of exercise, and sitting in one position for extended periods of time
    • Stress, anxiety, and depression caused by a lack of exercise and a poor diet that is full of fats, sugars, and processed foods
    • Frequent trips to health services due to chronic or acute issues caused by diet and lack of exercise

To say that this is a dire problem in our society is to understate it slightly. Indeed, our health services are filled with people who are suffering from the result of a life of overeating the wrong foods and a lack of regular exercise. It’s high time that we addressed the problem seriously!

Make the Local Gym Your Priority Destination

The truth is that it does require motivation and the right attitude to make exercise and dieting work for you and your body but there are some things that can certainly help in this regard, including:

    • Don’t make promises to yourself that you can’t keep.
    • Take small steps on the path to dieting and exercise and start small.
    • Don’t ever berate yourself for failure because failing is a key part of learning.

The other important thing is to seek out professional assistance in your goal to transform your body into a lean and strong machine. Places such as ABS Gym place great emphasis on pairing individuals with experienced trainers who can customise an exercise plan. They understand the problems involved in motivating oneself to exercise and can provide support. This kind of professional support is essential when embarking on a healthy lifestyle.

It may take some weeks or months but working through the initial pains and doubts is crucial to building good habits. When one finally does build exercise and good eating into one’s life, the transformations can be truly amazing!
